'Secret Santa' pays layaway, spreads holiday cheer in NJ town

The holidays just got a whole lot brighter for some lucky customers at a New Jersey store.

"Do you think Santa sees you when you are sleeping?"

"Of course he does."

"And, he knows when you are awake?"

"Yup."

Five-year-old Jason Rake of Washington, New Jersey, is a little worried he could be on Santa's naughty list. Little does he know, a "Secret Santa" gave his soon-to-be stepmom London Rasimowicz a hand with some of his Christmas presents.

"I started crying. I called, I called my fiance. I called my mother and I was balling my eyes out. I was like, 'This really happened. What is going on?'" said Rasimowicz.

London, learning a total stranger had paid off her layaway, and many others, at a Phillipsburg, New Jersey Walmart. The store posted about it on its Facebook page and then contacted customers by phone and text. London's family is feeling extremely grateful.

"The first words out of our mouths, we wish we knew who this person was so we can thank them," London said.

Others wishing they could have been so lucky.

"I don't have any layaway, but I wish I did now," Hayley Booth said.

News of the Secret Santa quickly spreading and spreading holiday cheer among everyone in the community.

"I think it's pretty awesome. You don't get many people around here that do that anymore," said Sherri Music.

"I am not surprised. Lot of good people out there nowadays. This is just one of them," Nick Zemlachenko stated.

Walmart would not disclose the dollar amount paid off, but the gesture is definitely priceless.
