2 hurt after car crashes, catches fire on Kelly Drive

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Two people are in the hospital Friday morning after a car slammed into a concrete wall and burst into flames on Kelly Drive overnight.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash near Boathouse Row around 2 a.m.

Authorities say the car slammed into the wall, causing it to overturn before it briefly caught fire. The fire was quickly placed under control.

The two people inside the car were initially trapped inside but were freed and taken to Hahnemann hospital for observation.

The crash remains under investigation.
