4 people found shot dead in West Philadelphia basement

Philadelphia police are investigating the discovery of four bodies in a West Philadelphia home Monday morning.

Officers located the bodies of two men and two women in the basement of a home on the 5100 block of Malcolm Street just after noon.

Police say the victims all lived there but neighbors say they barely knew them.

"They kind of stayed to themselves. Only see them coming and going to the store, didn't speak too much to no one on the block, like I said they were new," Brent Beasely said.

All four victims were found with a single gunshot wound to the head.

"Sadly, all four of these individuals were executed, there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it," Philadelphia Police Police Commissioner Richard Ross said. "This is an absolutely evil thing to do. . There is no way in the world people should have met their demise this way."

Two of the victims have been identified only as a 31-year-old man, a 20-year-old woman. The other two have not yet been identified, and are described as a male approximately 20-30 years old and a woman approximately 30-40 years old.

Philadelphia police tell FOX 29 the home was under construction and the bodies were found after a family member went to check on the home and found the door ajar.

Police believe the male victims are cousins and lived in the home. Neighbors told police they had heard three or four bangs last night, but thought it was from the renovations, and did not contact police.

Police are still looking for the suspect and a motive in the murders.
