Police investigate armed robbery at Delaware County gas station
RIDLEY, Pa. (FOX 29) - Police are investigating an armed robbery at the 24-hour Lukoil gas station on MacDade Boulevard in Delaware County.
Just after 3 a.m. Wednesday, a man in a yellow jacket and blue ball cap--armed with a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun--grabbed store employee Gurpreet Singh as he went outside to empty a mop bucket. The man marched Singh back inside to the cash register with the gun pressed to the back of his head, according to police.
Security camera video shows Singh following orders, but the gunman wanted more money from the floor safe at their feet. The two began to struggle, as Gurpreet pleaded with the thief to take his bounty and beat it.
As the two separated, the gunman fired a single shot, piercing the leg of Gupreet's jeans but miraculously not his leg. The bullet ricocheted off the base of the safe and was later recovered by police. Investigators say the man left with cash from the register.
