Man, 14-year-old boy critical after shooting in North Philadelphia
NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF/AP) - Police are investigating after a man and teenage boy were critically injured in a North Philadelphia shooting overnight.
Shortly after midnight on Sunday, officers responded to the 3100 block of North Park Avenue near Temple University's Health Sciences Center Campus.
Police say a 14-year-old boy was shot in the face and is in extremely critical condition at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. A 25-year-old man was shot at least eight times, according to police, and is in critical condition at Temple University Hospital.
Authorities say more than 20 shots were fired by at least two shooters who fled the scene.
"We believe at least two shooters firing from opposite directions which kind of sandwiched both complainants in the middle," East Detectives Division Captain Nicholas Brown said.
A motive for the shooting remains under investigation. But authorities say the man was likely the intended target.
No arrests have been made at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
