Suspect arrested in shooting death of Gabby Carter, 8
CAMDEN, NJ (WTXF) - CAMDEN, NJ (WTXF)- Police say there has been an arrest in connection with the shooting death of an 8-year-old Camden girl.
18-year-old Tyhan Brown has been arrested and charged in the shooting death of 8-year-old Gabby Carter. Authorities say Brown was arrested at a relative's home in Tennessee, by U.S. Marshals.
Brown has been charged with first degree murder.
Gabby was shot back while riding her bike across the street from her house in Camden back on August 24th. Two days later, on August 26th, Gabby succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators say the gunfire broke out when several men opened fire on an intended target, and a stray bullet struck Gabby.
On September 15, 2016, Brown's mother, Shakia Land, was charged with hindering the homicide investigation. Similar charges were filed against Natasha Gerald earlier this week. Both women are charged with providing false alibi information to homicide detectives.
While Gabby was in the hospital, her mother was in the same hospital, pregnant with her younger brother. She gave birth after Gabby passed, and named the boy King Gabriel, after his late sister.
