Suspect in deadly Trevose hit and run in custody

Police in Bucks County have arrested a man they say was behind the wheel of a pickup truck that struck and killed a teenager late last month.

James Howell, 48, is facing multiple charges for his alleged involvement in the deadly hit and run back on November 27.

19-year-old Jessica Kurtz and a friend were crossing Street Road and Philmont Avenue around 8 p.m. when they were struck by a pickup truck police now say Howell was driving.

After the collision, authorities say Howell got out of the truck and helped Kurtz's friend pull her to the side of the road before he got back into his truck and drove off.

Howell was taken into custody near 52nd Street and Haverford Avenue in West Philadelphia Thursday afternoon by U.S. Marshals.

Kurtz had recently graduated from Bensalem High school and a vigil was held for her earlier this week.
