Police: Temple University student shot multiple times, killed
NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - A Temple University student has died after police say he was shot and killed at his off-campus apartment. Police are not releasing many details, but they are saying it is not a random act.
Neighbors and classmates say the Temple student, identified as Daniel Duignam, was kind, quiet and polite. Neighbors also say Duignam would, at times, jump into the street to grab a ball if little kids kicked it into the street.
Folks were shocked to see detectives and a crime scene unit enter Duignam's first-floor apartment about 9:30 Saturday night.
Police say the business student was shot in the chest, arm and groin. He was pronounced dead inside his off-campus apartment. Temple said police do not think this was a random act. Next door neighbors and people in the same building say Duignam never caused trouble. He went to class, he went to work and he went home.
Duignam's Facebook page shows he was a basketball player at Nazareth Area High School. He ran cross-country. He would have graduated from Temple in 2019.
Temple is offering counseling for students. Click here for more information.
Police have no information on a motive.
