Prosecutor: No criminal charges in fight involving Atlantic City mayor
CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. (WTXF) - No criminal charges are being pursued against Atlantic City's mayor, a city councilman and three other people involved in an altercation outside a casino this month.
Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland announced Wednesday that his office wouldn't file charges stemming from the dispute.
The early morning altercation occurred Nov. 11 outside Atlantic City's Golden Nugget casino.
Mayor Frank Gilliam and City Councilman Jeffree Fauntleroy were reportedly on the same side of the dispute. Fauntleroy has called it a "misunderstanding," while Gilliam declined comment.
Authorities have not released any video of the dispute. Atlantic City police have referred all questions to the prosecutor's office.
The citizen's complaints filed against Mayor Gilliam and Councilman Fauntleroy will be addressed in North Wildwood municipal court on Dec. 11.
