Trump tweets he has 'much bigger' and 'more powerful' nuclear button than Kim Jong Un

It may be a new year, but President Donald Trump is not holding back on his thoughts on Twitter with regards to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

In a tweet posted Tuesday night, Trump wrote, "North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the 'Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.' Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!"

The words come after a Tuesday morning tweet by Trump that stated sanctions and other pressure were starting to have an impact on North Korea.

"Sanctions and 'other' pressures are beginning to have a big impact on North Korea," Trump tweeted. Soldiers are dangerously fleeing to South Korea. Rocket man now wants to talk to South Korea for first time. Perhaps that is good news, perhaps not - we will see!"

Trump does not actually have a nuclear button on his desk. The nuclear "football" is carried by a rotating group of military officers everywhere the president goes.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the U.S. would continue to put "maximum pressure" on North Korea to give up its nukes. She added that South Korea shares that goal.
