Woman shares touching moment commuter gives homeless man his boots
(STORYFUL) - A woman was witness to a tender moment between a commuter in Chicago, Illinois, and an elderly homeless man who was in need of a new pair of shoes.
Jessica Bell shared the exchange on Facebook on January 12, writing that the homeless man's feet were "so swollen he's wearing the tattered gym shoes he has with the back folded down, like slip-ons. I don't know how many pairs of socks he's wearing in an attempt to keep his feet warm but there is blood seeping through." Bell watched as a fellow commuter with a suitcase took off his winter boots and gave them to the man, as well as a fresh pair of socks. The man was able to replace his boots with a spare pair of shoes he had in his suitcase.
Bell was able to contact the generous man and identified him as Maurice Anderson. Anderson told Bell he had been in Chicago visiting his daughter, which is why he had a suitcase with him on the train.
