Frigid temperatures here to stay through the weekend following nor'easter

A nor'easter that dumped several of inches of snow across the area Thursday also left bitter cold temperatures behind as we head into the weekend.

Dozens of area schools remained closed or opened with delays Friday as crews continued to work to clear the snow.

Don't count on that snow melting itself anytime soon, as high temperatures through Sunday are only expected to reach the mid to high teens as a high-pressure system of arctic air invades the area.

The arctic air will be kept even colder by frigid wind chills, as the gusty winds from the nor'easter linger.

Frostbite will be a concern over the next few days with just 15-20 minutes of exposure becoming hazardous. Be sure to dress in layers and cover up.

FOX 29's Sue Serio would also like to remind viewers to check the Three P's: People, pets, and pipes. It's also recommended you check your tire pressure and your car's battery in low temperatures like this.
