LOS ANGELES - Is former President Bill Clinton about to become the president of Hollywood?
His upcoming thriller novel The President Is Missing is going to be turned into a Showtime series. The book is set to be released June 11, 2018.
Clinton and his co-writer James Patterson, a bestselling author, pitched it to Los Angeles studios. The book "tells the story of a sitting U.S. president's disappearance, with the level of detail that only someone who has held the office can know."
The CEO of Showtime David Nevins released a statement to Deadline.
"Bringing The President Is Missing to Showtime is a coup of the highest order. The pairing of President Clinton with fiction's most gripping storyteller promises a kinetic experience, one that the book world has salivated over for months and that now will dovetail perfectly into a politically relevant, character-based action series for our network."
Bill Clinton is excited about the movie and new career move.
"I'm really enjoying writing this book and working with Jim. And I can't wait to see Showtime bring the characters to life."
And obviously, Patterson is as well.
"The White House is such an exciting world to explore and is made even more so with the unique insights of a former President. Rich storytelling opportunities for this series abound."
You can say that again!
