17-year-old boy shot while handling guns with friends inside home, police say

The teen was shot once in the abdomen while hanging out with some friends. They were handling the weapons when one of the guns went off. possibly accidentally, according to police.

Police say a teenage boy was killed when a gun that he and his friends were handling in the basement of an Olney home unexpectedly fired. 

The fatal shooting happened just before 8 p.m. Tuesday on the 6000 block of North American Street, according to police. 

MORE HEADLINES: 

Chief Inspector Scott Small said a group of teens had two semi-automatic weapons in the basement of the home when one of the guns fired and hit a 17-year-old in the abdomen. 

The teen, later identified as Kyleek Williams, was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he died. 

A suspect was taken into custody immediately after the shooting and a weapon was recovered, according to police. 

No charges have been reported as investigators continue to piece together what caused the deadly shooting.
