NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Two people were killed after a car crashed into a school bus at Woodward Street and Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia.
It happened on Sunday around 9 p.m.
Police say the bus was stopped at the red light in the northbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard at Woodward Street when it was rear ended by a Mercedes. According to witnesses, after striking the bus, the car burst into flames; the operator of the bus then moved her vehicle to avoid further damage. Witnesses attempted to put the fire out with fire extinguishers to no avail. Both occupants of the car were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the driver of the Mercedes has been identified as 32-year-old Ramon Rodriguez-Camacho. The passenger in the vehicle has been identified as 38-year-old Lorraine Rivera, according to police.
