PHILADELPHIA - Investigators on Thursday released preliminary findings days after two Philadelphia police officers shot and wounded an armed man outside a Fairmount bar.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, two veteran officers were dispatched to Krupa's Tavern at the intersection of 27th and Brown streets for reports of a person with a gun.
The officers soon encountered Ramon Antonio Miranda, 38, standing outside the bar armed with a black gun. It was previously alleged that Miranda fired into the bar before police arrived.
"I don’t know if the folks inside either closed the door on him or he wasn’t allowed to come in, but he fired a shot into the bar," Philadelphia Police Sergeant Eric Gripp told reporters.

Miranda was commanded several times to drop the gun, but police say he instead pointed it directly at the officers who both fired.
He was struck once in the upper left leg and taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition.
Miranda has been charged with multiple crimes including aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
The officers are on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
"This encounter between Philadelphia Police officers and an armed individual could have ended very differently if not for the involvement of our community members," Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said.
"The swift actions of civilians on the scene calling 9-11 ensured that our officers arrived on location quickly and addressed this threat before any innocent bystanders were hurt.
