FORT MEADE (FOX 13) - The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting in a Fort Meade neighborhood. One person was killed, two others were injured. It happened around 6:45 Monday evening on the 400 block of 3rd Street Southwest.
Investigators say a white vehicle with three to four people inside pulled up to a home at 413 3rd Street SW and knocked on the door. The person who answered the door was 48-year-old Charles Peddycoart.
The sheriff's office says the men began to argue over a dog, and at some point, Peddycoart started shooting.
Teconsa Tyree McDonald, 22, was killed. Calvin Johnson, 20, and Edwin Burgess, 18, were hurt with gunshot wounds to their torsos.
All three of the wounded men live a few blocks away from where the shooting occurred. As far as a relationship, Judd just said they were neighbors.
The suspected shooter, Peddycoart is being interviewed by investigators. Whether this was a case self-defense or not remains to be seen.
