3-year-old drowns after falling into pool in Northeast Philadelphia, police say
Police say a 3-year-old girl is dead after she fell into a pool in a Northeast Philadelphia neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
PHILADELPHIA - Police say a 3-year-old girl is dead after she drowned in the rainwater of an unopened pool in Northeast Philadelphia Sunday afternoon.
The girl's mother and two young siblings were sitting in the living room of their Somerton home before realizing the girl was missing, then found in the pool.
The pool had yet to be opened for the season, but police say the girl drowned in rain water that had accumulated on top of its cover.

Neighbors attempted to save the girl's life, but she was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead just before 1 p.m.
No arrests have been made as police investigate the tragedy.
