TRENTON, N.J. (AP/WTXF) - Police are investigating after gunfire erupted at a community event in Trenton, New Jersey, Saturday night, leaving four people injured.
Officers responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Union Street.
Neighbors say the incident transpired at the end of an event in which back-to-school supplies were given to children. Lt. Stephen Varn said several people on dirt bikes and possibly all-terrain vehicles pulled up and opened fire.
Two men and a woman were transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment. Varn said a fourth victim, found a few blocks away, was also taken there and listed in critical condition.
Officials said one of the fleeing assailants struck a 7-year-old boy with a dirt bike. The child was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
No arrests have been made at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
