3 suspects sought in violent armed robbery at small business

Philadelphia police are looking for three men wanted in connection to an armed robbery in Mayfair at a grocery store that left a female employee assaulted and money stolen from a safe.

Some tense moments for a group of employees in a Mayfair small business after three armed gunmen bolted into the shop.

The unsettling scene happened at around 9:10 p.m. Saturday at the Emporio Latino Grocery on the 2800 block of Tyson Avenue.

Police say three female victims, two 42-year-olds and one 37-year-old, were leaving the shop when they were forced back inside by three armed men.

One of the victims was assaulted by the suspect, according to police, who have yet to release her condition.

Investigators say the masked men demanded all the employees get on the floor, before stealing "a substantial amount of money" from the safe.

The victims' cell phones were also stolen, but were later recovered on the 2900 block of Princeton Street.

Police said the suspects then fled down an alley behind the business.

No arrests have been made, and no weapons were recovered. An investigation is underway.
