After tour bus fire closed I-495, highway is back open
CLAYMONT, Del. (WTXF) - A tour bus fire closed all lanes of northbound I-495 in Claymont, Delaware for a few hours late Sunday afternoon.
The Delaware State Police urged motorists to avoid I-495 northbound where it merges with I-95 because of a tour bus fire February 25. All lanes re-opened a little before 7 p.m. and there were no traffic issues to report.
Troopers say no other vehicles were involved in the tour bus fire. The 35 passengers on the bus were able to exit the bus safely and no injuries were reported.
State police closed I-495 for an approximately three hours while the tour bus was removed from the highway and the scene was cleared.
