AJ Brown returns favor for Eagles fan who caught McKee’s 1st NFL touchdown football

Patrick Driscoll’s AJ Brown jersey is one he’s keeping close to the chest.

"This is probably the coolest thing I ever got and it’s just so cool how it’s the Kelly green, they don’t wear them too often," said Driscoll as he shows off the jersey.

To understand the significance of it you have to go back to the 3rd quarter of the Eagles versus Cowboys game for a special touchdown dime from Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee.

Eagles beat Cowboys 41-7 to clinch NFC East

Saquon Barkley rushed for 167 yards to top 2,000 on the season, backup quarterback Kenny Pickett ran and threw for scores before departing with injured ribs, and the Philadelphia Eagles clinched the NFC East title by routing the Dallas Cowboys 41-7.

"AJ ran a great route, caught a great pass from Tanner, turned around and he just launched it way up into the bleachers," said Driscoll.

A moment FOX 29 caught on camera AJ mistakenly launching McKee’s first NFL career touchdown ball and that’s where Driscoll comes in to play.

"It was straight on a rope, I saw it coming right at me, nobody reached out to deflect or tip it, it kept coming straight at me. Just natural instinct, just caught it right here, one hand and just celebrating with my friends I couldn’t believe it," said Driscoll.

Driscoll knew that this ball would probably want back.

"I was just thinking they will probably want the ball back and I’ll probably get something cool. I was thinking maybe not one of the game-worn jerseys but like a replica one," said Driscoll.

Driscoll luckily thought wrong, as AJ Brown quickly realized what he did and was shown on the game broadcast pleading to Driscoll for a possible exchange.

"He was like going like this to the jersey and I just gave him the flex, was like I got you, no doubt," said Driscoll.

Driscoll returned the ball and after the game AJ returned the favor by giving him his game-worn jersey with a custom signature.

A special moment for the young fan from New Jersey who grew up always loving his Eagles.

"They wanted and needed that ball back. I was willing to do whatever it was, let’s keep these guys winning, keep them in the right mindset," said Driscoll.

Despite being offered up to $10,000 for the jersey, Driscoll says it’s not for sale.
