Investigation underway after person shot by police in Absecon, prosecutor says

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Major Crimes Unit is investigating after a person was shot by police in Absecon on Tuesday.

A person was shot by police in Absecon on Tuesday, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. 

The shooting took place at the Dollar General located on the 700 block of New Road, authorities say. 

According to officials, the Major Crimes Unit with the Prosecutor's Office is on scene investigating. 

No additional information about the shooting was released. 

Aniyah Harris, who capture a cell phone video of the interaction, told FOX 29 that officers ordered the suspect to put his hands up and he continued to move forward. 

"They just let at least 20-30 shots off in a matter of 18 seconds," Harris said. 

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is heading the investigation into the shooting.

Authorities in New Jersey are investigating after a person was shot by police  in Absecon on May 24.
