Avengers, Assemble! New Marvel-themed areas, attractions coming to Disney parks

Avengers, Assemble! New experiences and attractions involving Marvel superheroes are coming to Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland, according to the Disney Parks Blog.

At Disneyland, a new immersive experience and superhero-themed area will be coming to the California Adventure Park in 2020. According to the blog, The Guardians of the Galaxy will be joined by Spider-Man and other Avengers.

The new area will be next to the ride "Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!" where "A Bug's Land" used to be. That area closed in March 2019 to make way for the new Avengers-themed spot.

The blog did not provide further detail on the new area but said "recruitment begins" soon.

As for Disneyland Paris, a re-imagined attraction will be at the Walt Disney Studios Park. It will take riders on a mission where they team up with Iron Man and other Avengers come 2020. According to the blog, this is part of a multi-year expansion at the park.

There will also be an experience launching in the summer called Marvel Summer of Superheroes. It will be held June 10 until Sept. 30. Marvel heroes will take the stage for a brand new, live-action production that will feature special effects and projections.

In both Disneyland and Disneyland Paris, there will be a section where guests can "suit up" with Spider-Man and the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB).

At Hong Kong Disneyland, which is also under a multi-year expansion, a new attraction where guests will take part in an adventure with Ant-Man and The Wasp opened in March. It's called "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!"

Visitors are shrunk down to the size of an ant and they join the battle against artificial intelligence Arnim Zola and the Hydra Swarmbot army. There might even be some Marvel Easter eggs on the ride for eagle-eyed guests to catch, according to the blog.

The attraction was added alongside the "Iron Man Experience," which opened at the park in 2017. There will also be a new themed-area set up near both attractions, but details on that were not provided.
