Brian Dawkins names former teammate Troy Vincent his HOF presenter
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Legendary Eagles safety Brian Dawkins has selected a former teammate as his presenter for his enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this August.
Troy Vincent will join Dawkins on stage at the Enshrinees' Gold Jacket Dinner on August 3, and will place the Hall of Fame Gold Jacket on Dawkins on the eve of the enshrinement.
Vincent, a Trenton, New Jersey native who graduated from Pennsbury High School, currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the National Football League.
Dawkins and Vincent were key members of a vaunted defense led by defensive coordinator Jim Johnson through the early 2000s.
Dawkins was selected in the second round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Eagles and went on to play 13 seasons with the Eagles before playing three more with the Denver Broncos.
Dawkins, always a leader in the locker room and on the field, finished his career with 26 sacks, 37 interceptions and 36 forced fumbles. He also recorded two defensive touchdowns and a receiving touchdown that he scored on a fake punt.
Nicknamed Weapon X, Dawkins was known for his rabid demeanor and bone-crunching hits on the field and his professional and caring personality off the field.
Dawkins was selected to the Pro Bowl nine times, and was named First Team All-Pro five times.
The Eagles have since retired Dawkins' number 20 jersey
