NEW BRITAIN, Pa. (WTXF) - A 42-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend in Bucks County, authorities announced Saturday.
Jason Lutey was taken into custody after the body of 46-year-old Colleen Patterson was found in the trunk of his car Friday night, according to Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub.
Officers responded to the 100 block of Keeley Avenue around 8:30 p.m. after Lutey's sister alerted police, stating that her brother had killed his girlfriend at the home the couple shared.
Police arrived on the scene to find Patterson's body wrapped in a white cloth in the back of Lutey's 2018 Toyota Highlander SUV, which was parked outside of the home.
"They were fighting Thursday night, then it happened Friday," neighbor Ben Estbron told FOX 29. "I feel sad that I didn't see something going on that I couldn't have stopped him."
The homicide investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
A preliminary hearing for Lutey is slated for Thursday, Sept. 18.
