PHILADELPHIA - The driver of a senior citizen bus heroically drove a dozen elderly passengers to safety after police say he was hit in a crossfire shooting Thursday morning.
Police were already on the scene of a shooting on the 400 block of West Ashdale Street when a second shooting erupted on the same street just miles away.
The 32-year-old man was found with a gunshot injury to the head and taken by police to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he was placed in critical condition.
The 56-year-old bus driver was in the torso by a stray bullet, police said, but continued to drive over a mile away from the gunfire for the safety of his passengers.

Doorbell camera from a property near the shooting captured the Mercy Fleet bus speeding away after shots were fired around 8:30 a.m.
The unnamed driver stopped at the intersection of 9th and Roosevelt Boulevard where police say he was taken to Einstein Hospital and placed in stable condition.
The manager of Mercy Fleet described the driver as a very good employee who has been with the company for more than five years.
No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. Police have asked anyone with information to reach out to detectives.
