When they're not fighting crime Philadelphia police are protecting the communities they serve in other ways. It's evident in a new video, which shows how some officers went the extra mile to help a little girl.

The video is capturing plenty of hearts. It shows two of Philly's finest helping 7-year-old Tammarah Baht-Yisrael ride her bike up a hill during the 15th Police Districts's Peace Ride on Saturday.

Police tweeted out the video of officers Xuong Tran and Stephanie Aitken riding alongside Tamarrah offering words of encouragement.

Officer Aitken joined the Philadelphia bike patrol right out of the academy about a year ago. She says she had a difficult time at first so she could relate to Tamarah's struggles.

"I'm shorter, so it was hard for me to even reach the pedals on the ground and stuff so seeing her I saw a lot of what I had to deal with," she said.

More than 100 people came out for the Frankford Bridesburg Peace March and ride, which included 20 bikes being given away.

Some of the children never even rode a bike before. Captain Anthony Luca who was participating in the ride was touched by his officers' actions.

"It makes your heart melt when you see the officers waiting and assisting her--learn how to ride the bike the right way," he said.

Tamarah's mom was also appreciative of the officers genuine kindness.
