Charges filed against former Chester Police Commissioner who abruptly retired after crash
CHESTER, Pa. - Charges have been filed against the former Chester police commissioner who abruptly retired after his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run crash over the weekend.
Pennsylvania State Police announced five charges against Steven Gretsky, including reckless driving and accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle.
It's alleged that Gretsky was behind the wheel of a police SUV that struck and unattended delivery vehicle and left the scene of the crash on Sunday night.

Police say Gretsky was driving a police SUV that struck an unattended delivery vehicle around midnight Monday near the intersection of 22nd and Hyatt streets.
No one was injured in the crash, according to police. A neighbor told FOX 29 they saw Gretsky struggle to restart the SUV before fleeing the scene of the crash.
Gretsky was placed on administrative leave as investigators looked into the hit-and-run crash, and handed in a letter of resignation hours later.

Chester Police Commissioner Steven Gretsky will retire on Tuesday, according to a statement released by the city.
Pennsylvania State Police on Wednesday morning brought charges against Gretsky, who they called a "hit-and-run driver."
Charges against Gretsky include reckless driving, careless driving, duty to give information and render aid, and accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle.

"They're supposed to be on our side, you know, ‘protect and serve’?" a Chester resident said.
