Child struck in Kensington hit-and-run: police

Philadelphia police are investigating after they say a child was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene Tuesday morning.

Philadelphia police say a vehicle fled the scene after hitting a 14-year-old boy, who was rushed to the hospital Tuesday morning.

The alleged hit-and-run happened in a posted school zone near Frankford Avenue and Clementine Street just before 8 a.m.

Police say school zone lights were flashing when the driver struck the teen as he crossed the street.

The driver initially stopped to get out of their vehicle, but then drove off, according to authorities.

The teen was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Police say they recovered the suspected vehicle and have a person of interest in custody. No further details have been released.
