City: "Recovery Will Take Some Time"
WTXF- PHILADELPHIA - Snow removal operations following the weekend's storm are ongoing, and "recovery will take some time," Clarena Tolson, the city's deputy managing director for infrastructure and transportation, said in a briefing Monday.
Mayor Jim Kenney thanked police for stepping up during the storm, and asked Philadelphians for patience during the cleanup.
"We're getting to our streets," Kenney said, adding that crews will reach larger streets before smaller ones. "Either we're coming, or we're already there."
"Obviously we need to get our primary streets and secondary streets," the mayor said. "But we have to go through this in a methodical way to make sure the city gets back to work as soon as possible."
In the briefing, members of the Kenney administration added that the weekend's storm was the fourth-largest amount of accumulaton in the city's history.
Philadelphians are asked to contact 215-686-SNOW to arrange to retrieve removed cars, rather than 911.
