Cleanup underway across the region after nor’easter leaves wintry mess behind

FOX 29's Marcus Espinoza has the latest on the cleanup efforts.

Residents across most of the region dug their way out of a wintry mess left behind by a mid-December nor'easter Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Depending on where you live, you may have woken up to a foot or more of snow, or just a few wet and slushy inches.

The Lehigh Valley and suburbs to the north and west saw close to a foot or more.

Further south, the Philadelphia International Airport is reporting more than 6 inches of snow, while parts of Chester County are reporting 8-9 inches.

Chesterfield, New Jersey saw significant snow as well, measuring 6.5 inches Thursday morning, with Riverton also breaking the 6 inch mark. Hamilton and Florence both saw 4 inches or more while Mount Laurel ended up with 5.4 inches.

Cleanup begins in Manayunk as city sees significant snow for first time since 2018

FOX 29's Lauren Johnson checks in from Manayunk as the city begins to dig itself out following the nor'easter.

Despite seeing some more rain and warmer temperatures during the course of the storm, some parts of Delaware still managed to record more than 5 inches of snow. North Talleyville reported 5.7 inches, while Wilmington reported 5.5 inches. Newark, Delaware wound up with about 3 inches.

No matter what type of precipitation fell in your area, you'll want to bundle up if you're heading outside to clean up, as wind chills are expected to stay in the 20s through the day.

Snow, rain, and sleet created hazardous road conditions, and heavy shoveling snow in areas to the south and east.

Thursday's freezing temps could create even more problems as wet spots freeze over.
