CLOSINGS: Philadelphia public, Archdiocesan among schools closing early

Schools across the region are announcing early dismissals Monday as wintry weather moves towards the area and is expected to impact the afternoon rush.

Some schools remained closed Monday as residents cope with bitter wind chills while continuing to dig out from a winter storm that paralyzed parts of the East Coast with blizzard-like conditions.

The School District of Philadelphia announced it would be dismissing students at 1 p.m. See here for more information.

Archdiocesan high schools and parochial elementary schools in Philadelphia will also close at 1 p.m. Monday.

The Penn-Delco School District also announced it would observe an early dismissal Monday. Sun Valley High School will dismiss students at 12 p.m., Northley Middle School will dismiss students at 12:40 p.m., and elementary schools will dismiss students at 1:20 p.m. There will be no afternoon kindergarten, and all after school activities are canceled.

Two Camden schools will be closed Monday due issues brought on by the bone-chilling temperatures, per officials.

Atlantic City public schools are closed Monday, while Margate city schools will operate on a two-hour delay and Upper Darby schools will dismiss students early.
