Community stands up to hate after protest at CB West

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (WTXF) - As school let out at CB West on Tuesday, students ran right into protesters carrying signs with anti-gay and anti-Muslim slogans. Now, the community wants to make it clear it doesn't stand for hate.

The idea was to send students home carrying messages of love at Wednesday's dismissal of CB West and counteract the hateful messages from the day prior. Protesters on Tuesday warned teenagers that their sexual preference, pre-marital sex, abortion and other lifestyles and choices would send them straight to hell someday.

It was bad enough for Justin Weismer to pull out his camera.

"It was insane how something like that could be at our school," Weismer said.

It escalated to in-your-face shouting from students to physical contact between a school security officer and a demonstrator--both claiming assault.

"The altercation of the video is disturbing and we're investigating that," Central Bucks Regional Police Captain Robert Milligan said. "They were separated and they maintained the peace in the site and everybody went on about their business a short time later."

One group told FOX 29 they were hoping to respond to the Key of David demonstrators Wednesday, but they didn't show.
