Corrections officer accidentally shot at NJ juvenile facility

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - A corrections officer at a state juvenile facility was injured when a weapon was accidentally discharged on New Year's Eve.

The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. Sunday at the Mountain View Correctional Facility in Clinton Township.

Hunterdon County prosecutors say the officer's off-duty weapon discharged accidentally, but they did not provide further details. They say he was taken to a hospital for treatment but added that the wound is not considered life-threatening.

The officer's name was not released.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting, which remains under investigation.
