NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A cow was captured on the northbound Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx on Tuesday.
Police spent about 30 minutes trying to corral the cow that was roaming the area just south of the Cross Bronx Expressway. It was unclear if the cow had come from a local slaughterhouse or had became freed while it was being transported somewhere.
SkyFOXHD was overhead where the cow could be seen lying on its side and tied with a yellow rope to a street light. Some of the officers could be seen patting the cow, presumably to try to keep it calm.
The cow was not injured, according to police.
One lane of the Major Deegan was closed in each directions. There were delays in both directions.
The cow was taken to an animal sanctuary in northern New Jersey to live.
