DA: 2-year-old found dead in Bucks County; mom hospitalized with self-inflicted wounds
TULLYTOWN, Pa. (WTXF) - Police are investigating after a 2-year-old boy was found dead in his Bucks County home and his mother was hospitalized with apparent self-inflicted wounds
The boy, identified as Mazikeen Clarey, was found dead in his Tullytown home on the 500 block of Lovett Avenue shortly after 10:30 p.m. Saturday. He was found lying on a bed.
Neighbor Susan Gilmore was in shock over Mazikeen's death.
"He was just the sweetest little boy you would ever want to know. I mean everybody in this whole circle right here that lives feels the same way we're all devastated," she said. "Words can't express how we feel."
The cause and manner of death were not immediately apparent, according to the district attorney's office, as there were no obvious signs of trauma to the boy's body. An autopsy and toxicology testing are pending.
The boy's mother, identified as 42-year-old Jennifer Clarey, has been hospitalized after being found in the home with injuries that "appear to be self-inflicted," per the district attorney's office.
"I think the landlord had come and he talked to her and noticed she wasn't looking very well and that's the one that contacted child youth and police to come just to make sure the little boy was okay and it just escalated from there," added Gilmore.
"Young Mazikeen's death is tragic, regardless of how it was caused," Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub said. "We are using all of our resources to determine if he is the victim of a homicide. This will take time. We ask for your assistance and your patience while we conduct this investigation."
The investigation is ongoing. No charges have been made at this time.
