BOSTON (WTXF) - U.S. District Attorney Andrew E. Lelling announced Sunday afternoon federal charges against a Rhode Island man who was arrested in Delaware after police found a body in the trunk of his vehicle.
Authorities say Louis D. Coleman III, 32, was found with the body of 23-year-old Jassy Correia in the trunk of his vehicle Thursday.
A police investigation alleges that Correia was last seen on Febuary 24 at a nightclub celebrating her birthday. Later that night she was spotted getting into a red car believed to have been driven by Coleman.
According to Lelling, surveillance video from that same night showed Coleman allegedly carrying Correia's body at his apartment building, then dragging her lifeless body onto the elevator and toward his apartment.
Coleman faces charges of kidnapping, refusal to report a death with intent to conceal and mutilation of a dead body.
Coleman will be extradited to Rhode Island where he will stand trial.
Correia's family has set up a GoFundMe page to help provide care for Jassy's daughter.
