DA : Philadelphia Streets Commissioner arrested for Simple Assault

PHILADELPHIA, PA (WTXF) - A Philadelphia Streets commissioner is facing charges following an alleged assault.

FOX 29's Jeff Cole reports Commissioner Donald Carlton was arrested on May 6 for an offense that took place on December 6, 2015, according to a court document.

The District Attorney's office reports the Carlton punched the alleged victim numerous times leaving them with a bruised eye and fractured rib. The incident is said to have occurred ton American Street at a house party.

The Kenny administration says Carlton is on leave of absence until further notice.

Donald D. Carlton was appointed to his position by Mayor Jim Kenney in November. He oversees and management of the city's Sanitation Division, which includes a workforce of over 1,200 employees and is responsible for conducting an integrated solid waste management system that includes refuse collection, recycling and disposal of the City's waste materials.

Carlton has been employed by the Streets Department for over 23 years.
