December snowfall above average for Philly

Snow fell across the Philadelphia area Friday afternoon as winter weather advisories went into effect.

FOX 29's Mike Masco reports that with 7.7 inches, Philadelphia is seeing above average snowfall amounts across the region.

A number of area school districts announced early dismissals ahead of the snow on Friday.

The timing of the snow impacted the afternoon rush, reducing visibility and slowing travel.

The gusty winds and snowfall are out of the area for now, but things won't be warming up until Saturday when we finally get closer to the 40s.
