WAYNE, Pa. - Residents in a Chester County neighborhood were urged to secure and lock their doors after police say a suspect was on the run after a fatal shooting occurred Friday. That suspect has since been captured.
According to Tredyffrin Township police, a shooting occurred on Mt Pleasant Avenue Friday around 5:30 p.m. after a dispute.
The shooting left one man dead while a suspect, considered armed and dangerous, fled the scene.
Police searched for the suspect, described as a Black man with a stocky build wearing all black or dark-colored clothing.
After he fled scene, they say he was last seen running on Upper Gulph Road toward a golf course that police had blocked off.
Police sent K9s and a drone team out to look for the suspect.
He was later captured nearby in Upper Merion.
Police believe both the victim and his killer were in this pickup truck together and both were armed with guns. They say the two got into a dispute that ended in the man being shot dead just outside the truck.
"There were two other male subjects involved in the matter," said Michael Beaty, Tredyffrin Twp Police Chief. "We identified those two other subjects and they are currently being interviewed at the Tredyffrin Police Department…We identified all the participants."
There is no further threat to the area, police confirm.
This is an ongoing investigation.
