'Distraction' used in burglary of Upper Darby home; group of women sought

Police are asking for the public's help to identify four women they say worked together during a recent burglary in Upper Darby.

What we know:

Jewelry was stolen as a home was burglarized in the Kirklyn section of the township.

Police say that four women used distraction tactics to get inside the home, and carry out the theft.

Two suspects would approach the homeowner with a fake purchase offer while a third suspect kept watch, and a fourth suspect stole the jewelry.

The four women are believed to be transient, and described as being of Eastern European descent.

Police are urging residents to stay vigilant when answering their doors, and to look out for elderly neighbors.

"All solicitors in Upper Darby must obtain a permit and display ID," according to police.

Residents are also being asked to contact police with any information, or if they notice anything suspicious.
