(STORYFUL) - Reddit user hopeidontdie was celebrating Christmas Day with friends in Indiana when they spotted a stray dog wandering around with its mouth taped shut.
Posting an image of the dog to Reddit and Imgur after it had been brought to North Central Veterinary Emergency Center, the Reddit user has since been asking for donations to help with medical care for the pooch, named Chance by the user and friends.
"Both of his hips were broken and a lot of the tissue around his mouth is decayed and will probably require skin grafts," the Reddit user noted in one comment on the thread, which has since gone viral.
The Reddit post was 93 percent upvoted at time of writing, while the related Imgur post had been viewed over 1.1 million times in nine hours.
With around $2,000 worth of donations said to be needed to help in the care of the dog, Reddit users have been asked to donate to the aforementioned North Central Veterinary Emergency Center.
A GoFundMe page is also said to be in the pipeline to help out.
