PHILADELPHIA - Two Philadelphia anti-violence workers were the victims of a deadly double shooting Thursday in the city's Kingsessing neighborhood.
Police say gunfire on the 1900 block of South 61st Street claimed the life of a 21-year-old and left another man in his 20s with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both victims were part of Philadelphia's Group Violence Intervention program, the city said in a release Friday.

"The tragedy underscores the importance of this program since it serves people in specific parts of the city who are identified as those who are most at risk," officials said.
No arrests were reported in the broad daylight shooting, and no weapons were found at the crime scene.
Group Violence Intervention, according to the city, is a violence reduction strategy that is designed to engage the small and active number of groups that are driving gun violence in Philadelphia.
