Police are investigating after a man crashed into eight parked cars in West Oak Lane overnight.

The incident happened around 12:15 a.m. Sunday on the 2400 block of 79th Avenue.

"You hear this speed. It comes for about 10 seconds and then you hear 'Dup dup,'" said Jasmine Avery.

"Bang, bang, bang and I ran to the door and I said 'Oh my God, my car has been hit!'" exclaimed Alberta Scott.

According to police, the driver said he swerved to avoid hitting an oncoming vehicle.

Authorities say the driver became nervous and flashed a security badge at passersby.

"We're so upset, man. I wanted to go to church. I can't go to church because my car is messed up and it's not right," stated Michael Pearsall.

Police did not breathalyze the driver and let him walk away from the scene, noting that he did not appear drunk.

"People like me, I don't work so I don't want to be paying a deductible to keep getting my car fixed for my car sitting in front of my door," Scott added.

"This has been a racetrack. It's been a racetrack. This is what they do," Avery said.

The car was held by police Sunday morning prior to being towed.
