Driver strikes sheriff's deputy responding to traffic accident

A sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries after he was hit by a driver while responding to a traffic accident in Dallas County, Iowa.

The incident took place on Monday, Jan. 28.

Footage released by the Dallas County Sheriff's Office shows the driver speeding between a police cruiser and fire truck before striking the deputy and knocking him to the ground.

The sheriff's office said that the officer suffered "minor injuries," but that the damage could have been "a whole lot worse."

"We are expecting some blowing snow and bad weather over the next couple of days," the department wrote on Facebook. "Let this be a reminder to slow down!"
