With the roster finalization deadline approaching Saturday afternoon, the Philadelphia Eagles have cut ties with quarterback Tim Tebow.
FOX 29's Howard Eskin confirmed the transaction Saturday afternoon.
Tebow was slated to be the team's third string QB after the Eagles agreed to trade Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a conditional 7th round pick on Friday.
Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly will address the media at 1:30 p.m. EST Saturday.
A former 1st round pick of the Denver Broncos, Tebow was attempting to make his way back into the league after a brief broadcasting stint with ESPN.
All NFL teams are required to cut the number of players down to 53, from 75, by 4:00p.m. EST Saturday.
Teams will be able to re-sign 10-eligible players to the practice squad following the waiver period.
