Eagles gift New Orleans terror attack survivor Super Bowl tickets

The Philadelphia Eagles gifted Super Bowl tickets to a local man who survived the New Year's Eve truck attack in New Orleans that killed 14, including his best friend.

Ryan Quigly received the gift from Eagles defensive tackle and Super Bowl LII hero Brandon Graham during a recent trip to the NovaCare Center in South Philly.

Quigley, still recovering from a broken leg, revealed that he previously told his slain friend, Tiger Bech, that he would take him to the Super Bowl if the Eagles made it.

The backstory:

Fourteen people were killed and dozens of others were injured when a man intentionally drove down Bourbon Street early New Year's morning, authorities said.

"He was hellbent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did," New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said.

The driver, later identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, crashed the truck and exchanged gunfire with police before he was shot and killed.

Two New Orleans police officers suffered non-fatal gunshot wounds in the brief gunfight with Jabbar.

Local perspective:

Ryan Quigly, a former Lansdale Catholic High School and Princeton University grad, suffered a broken leg in the attack.

His best friend and fellow Princeton University football teammate, Tiger Bech, was killed.

Bech and Quigly worked and lived together in New York City.

What they're saying:

Quigly was emotional when Eagles star Brandon Graham gifted him tickets to the Super Bowl during a recent visit to the NovaCare Complex in South Philly.

"Tiger was the biggest fan," Quigly said of his slain friend. "We went to every home game last year…after every win – which is obviously 15 of them – I told him if we make it, I promise I'm going to take you to the Super Bowl."
