Eagles Super Bowl: Fans pack stores for last-minute supplies ahead of game, winter weather

Before the forecasted snow and freezing rain began to fall Saturday, stores were packed with people getting last-minute necessities-stocking up ahead of the weather.

The double whammy of winter weather on the weekend of the Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX had Birds’ fans inside grocery stores, sporting goods stores and hardware stores, collecting a number of items to get them through the weekend.

What we know:

So many people were out and about early Saturday trying to get snacks and supplies for Super Bowl LIX, but also trying to get ahead of the weather.

What they're saying:

"Go Eagles! I’m getting ready for tomorrow! Because we’re having a party and they’re gonna win!" Cherry Hill resident Marie Grabon exclaimed.

She was one of many Eagles’ fans flocking to stores to get everything they would need for the big game, but also picking up some snow supplies before bad weather hits.

Michele said this about her shopping list, "Just one bag of salt because I have some at home already and a vegetable tray because I’m going to one of my friend’s tomorrow. I wanted to come out early and beat the crowd!"

Eagles Super Bowl: Eagles energy contagious from airport and throughout region

The Eagles energy is contagious and could be felt all around the Greater Philadelphia area as many prepare to host Super Bowl parties at home.

"Yes, I hear the snow is coming, so it’s the last of it," Mark Johnson said. "I was here all last night, so just pick up the rest of the things today."

"Just the stuff you forgot?" asked FOX 29’s Ellen Kolodziej.

"Exactly!" Johnson replied. "My wife was like, ‘You gotta get some more chips!’ I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll get some more chips!’"

Eagles excitement:

"I’m happy with my Eagles! Go Birds!" exclaimed Lorraine Johnson.

Over at Dick’s Sporting Goods, the green gear was flying off the racks.

Johnson continued, "I got me a hurts jersey. I love Hurts! And, some matching sneaks to go with!"

Sean Ekstrand, of Fishtown, had this to say about his shopping choices, "Yeah, I’m getting this hat today because I kinda like the retro design of it and I became an Eagles fan because I moved to Philly five or six years ago. Originally from Oakland, California. They took all my teams away, so I was orphaned and became an Eagles fan."

And, it wasn’t just clothing people were snatching up. Eileen Moughan, of Collings Lake, said, "Oh I wanted to get a program and that’s why I went online and they said Dick’s had it so I came here for the program! Go Birds absolutely!"

It was a cool $20 but well worth it, she says, to remember Super Bowl LIX. Most fans wholeheartedly agree.

What's next:

Whether it’s snacks or desserts or last-minute Eagles gear, you know people will still be running around on Super Bowl Sunday. Go Birds!
