Ed Rendell apologizes for "ugly women" comment

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) Former Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell is saying sorry for some commentary about the presidential race.

He is apologizing for saying, "There are probably more ugly women in America than attractive women." He made the statement while talking to the Washington Post Wednesday about Donald Trump's prospects in Pennsylvania. He said Trump's past comments about the "un-attractiveness" of certain women could cost him votes among women because "People take that stuff seriously".

On Wednesday, at 30th Street Station Rendell explained that he was trying to say that Trump's comments would strike a nerve with many Americans because so many are insecure about their own looks. He added he is very sensitive about his lack of hair. But he says it all came out wrong.

"What I said was incredibly stupid and insensitive and when I read it in the article, I thought did i say that? It was just dumb and stupid and insensitive and if I offended anybody I apologize sincerely."

Rendell's comments quickly became a trending topic on social media.
